Wow, Bob (my fiancé) and I had a LOT of fun managing the "Chef Demo" booth at the Bayview Farmer’s Market yesterday, May 22nd, on Whidbey Island where we live.
The purpose was to showcase foods/produce that are available at the market THAT day, and show people how to create great tasting, healthy dishes they can prepare with available local and seasonal foods throughout the year. The market provides the money first thing in the morning for us to walk around and select the items/ingredients we (the chef's) want in order to prepare the delectable dishes. Then we serve them to the market goers for the day….That was REALLY fun!
It was such a great feeling to walk around and talk with all the farmers/producers that were setting up for the day, and let them know what we were up to. They were excited to hear we wanted to buy their luscious offerings and incorporate them into our savory dishes to showcase and advertise for them. All of them agreed it’s a fantastic idea and praised the Market Organizer’s efforts.
Thanks very much to all the vendors who provide such an array and variety of healthy foods (even this early in the season)…
and to ALL who came by the booth to chat and taste samples of the foods we prepared. The market will feature several different chefs
throughout the Market season. We look forward to seeing you again when it’s our turn on August 31st.
Oh…Remember to register and participate in our upcoming food classes, June 6th and 13th. See "classes" for descriptions.
We promised you recipes: Here is a list of the foods we prepared and served, accompanied with the names of the producers who provided the ingredients.

Happy and healthy cooking and eating!
Be well,
